What’s the problem?
Pick what you are seeing, then start with the checks that belong to it. Each card opens the page that owns the answer rather than guessing at one here.
TASKS
TASK HELP
Task isn’t appearing
A guide names a task and it has not shown up in your journal. That is a requirements question: something before it has to be finished, or a character or place has to be reached.
These tasks have a written answer for the conditions that hold them back. Open the one you are waiting on, or check any task with the Dependency Checker below.
A Fast Food Fiend
A Fast Food Fiend only appears after The Skull Chalice.
The task is in your journal and an objective will not complete. This is a different question from the card above: the task exists, so the answer is in what the current step needs.
Nothing looks wrong, and there is nothing obvious to do. That is a missing step rather than a blocker, so it has a different answer from everything else on this page.
A guide named where it comes from and it still is not in your hands. That is a requirement question rather than a search, which is why it does not open the Item Finder.
We can check
Whether the task that provides it has started
Whether the shop that sells it is open to you
Whether a prerequisite item or area is still missing
A merchant a guide named does not stock what you are looking for. Start from the item rather than the counter: a shop page only ever lists what the release records for that merchant.
We can check
Which merchants are recorded selling this item
Whether the shop is open to you yet
Whether the stock is conditional rather than always on the shelf
Some stock is not unconditional: the release records items that reach a shop through an in-game event rather than sitting on the shelf from the start. Check the recorded conditions before treating a missing shelf item as something that went wrong.
RECOVERY
I lost or sold something important
Check whether another copy is confirmed, whether the item has an important use, and what recovery routes are known.
A character is not where a guide put them, or not where you last saw them. The release records a routine for some villagers and a list of recorded places for everyone else.
We can check
Where they are on a normal week
Whether a festival, a task or the weather moves them
Being recorded somewhere is not the same as being there now: a task appearance is not a normal location, and a character with no recorded routine is not therefore there all day.
CRAFTING
CRAFTING HELP
I can’t craft something
A recipe is missing from a station, or it is there and will not go through. More than one thing can stop a craft, and the release records which one applies to a recipe.
Something is being caught where you are, just not the fish you are after. A catch is a set of conditions that match, and each fish page lists the ones it is recorded against.
Almost everything on this page has something the release records behind it: a task that has to be finished first, an item you do not have yet, an area with a condition you have not met, or stock that is conditional rather than always on the shelf. Start with the checks each card names. Where the release records nothing behind a problem, this page says so instead of calling it a bug — the honest words there are requirement, condition and blocker.
Common Things Players Get Stuck On
A short editorial list rather than a ranking: these are the situations whose recorded requirements are complete enough to answer, so each one opens the page that owns it.
Deep Mall access
The recorded key item, and the chain it comes from.
If nothing looks wrong and you simply do not know what to do next, you are missing a step rather than a fix. The Progression Assistant starts from where you are and answers with the next step that matters.
The Demo has different progression, tasks and unlock rules.
The Demo has its own progression, tasks, items and unlock rules, and its help pages are archived under their own paths rather than mixed into these answers.
