A Fast Food Fiend Quest Guide
Defeat the Denizen of the Deep Fryer, then open Corn Seed at the Farming Shop
Steam 1.0 check in progress
This route is based on the previously confirmed farming progression and is being checked against the full release.
A Fast Food Fiend is the last step in Farmer Hans’s farming chain, and the only one with a day gate. It needs The Skull Chalice finished and Day 21 or later before it can start, then sends you into the Mall to defeat the Denizen of the Deep Fryer. Finishing it opens Corn Seed at the Farming Shop and four new recipe items at the Recipe Shop — shop stock, not a hand-over.

Two gates, and only two
The recorded conditions are The Skull Chalice complete and Day 21 or later. Both are listed in the farming progression data. Nothing else — not a letter, not a shop, not another character — is recorded as a requirement, so if both are true the quest is available.
Don’t Have A Fast Food Fiend Yet?
These are three different things. Keeping them apart is what tells you whether you are too early, missing the previous quest, or looking in the wrong place.
Requirement — decides if it can appear
Complete The Skull Chalice
This is the hard prerequisite. The quest cannot become available while The Skull Chalice is still open, however far into the game you are.
Earliest availability — the day gate
Day 21 or later
The only quest in Hans’s chain with a day gate. Finishing The Skull Chalice early does not open it early — it stays locked until the day condition is met as well.
Objective — decides when it ends
Defeat the Denizen of the Deep Fryer
This is a combat task, not a delivery. The target is recorded in the Mall Kitchen.
Step 01
How to Start A Fast Food Fiend
Work through the chain in order. If you are already past Day 21 and The Skull Chalice is finished, the quest is available — go and get it from Hans.
Complete The Skull Chalice
Craft the Giant Skull Chalice, return to Hans and finish that quest. The next farming quest stays locked until it is closed out.
The Skull Chalice guide →Reach Day 21
The second gate. It is a real requirement in the farming progression, not a rough estimate from a walkthrough.
Check with Farmer Hans
With both gates met, the quest becomes available from Hans at the Farmhouse. Both conditions are recorded; nothing else is.
Travel to the Mall
Hans sends you to the Mall Kitchen for the fight. Make sure you are equipped before you go.

Why Hasn’t Hans Sent the Letter?
A lot of walkthroughs say this quest arrives by letter. We could not confirm that in the game data, and the distinction matters because it changes what you should check.
What is recorded
- The Skull Chalice must be complete.
- Day 21 is a real gate in the farming progression, and it applies to this quest.
- The objective and location are recorded: defeat the Denizen of the Deep Fryer in the Mall Kitchen.
What we could not confirm
- No letter or mail from Hans is present anywhere in the game data. The mailbox only contains NPC gift letters and the Ancient Book notes — there is no farming or Hans correspondence in it.
- So there is no recorded letter to wait for, no recorded “read it first” step and no recorded delivery delay. Any advice about resting for a letter is not something we can confirm.
Work through these instead
›The quest isn’t available and I haven’t finished The Skull Chalice
›The Skull Chalice is done but I’m not on Day 21 yet
›I’m past Day 21, The Skull Chalice is done, and there is still nothing
›Do I need to sleep, rest or wait for mail?
Step 02
Go to the Mall Kitchen
The objective is recorded in the Mall Kitchen, which is the kitchen map inside the Mall. Route in is straightforward:
Town
Mall
Kitchen
No key, ticket or side quest is recorded as a requirement for reaching the kitchen, so you should be able to walk in with the quest active.
- Where
- The Kitchen, inside the Mall
- Bring
- Combat items and healing
- Extra gate
- None recorded
- While you are here
- Gate Key #1 — see below
Step 03
Defeat the Denizen of the Deep Fryer
This is the quest objective: a single named enemy in the kitchen. Because it is the only step that can actually fail, it is worth arriving prepared rather than treating it as a walk-in.
We are deliberately not going to list its health, damage, weaknesses or resistances. Here is why, so you know what you are reading:
Why there is no stat block here
The data this site is built from records items, sources, recipes and quest conditions. It does not contain an enemy table for this fight, so we have no verified numbers for the boss’s health, attacks, weaknesses, resistances, status effects or resistances to damage types.
Rather than invent a plausible-looking stat block, we would rather tell you it is not available. Everything on this page that is stated comes from recorded data.
What we can give you is what the kitchen itself supplies. The Mall Kitchen has recorded battle items on the floor, so you do not have to arrive fully stocked from elsewhere.
Combat and recovery items recorded inside the Mall Kitchen Item What it does Where it comes from here Cup of Coffee Restores MP by 20 and adds movement speed. Recorded pickup in the Kitchen. Combat Drink Battle item that boosts your stats in the fight. Recorded as a random combat-item pickup in the Kitchen. Cleansing Balm Removes Ghost Tentacles and is carried as a battle drop. Recorded as battle loot inside the Kitchen. Mystery Meat Cooking and crafting ingredient dropped by the kitchen fights. Recorded as battle loot inside the Kitchen. Blood Gem Equipment drop from the kitchen’s mini-boss loot table. Recorded as mini-boss battle loot inside the Kitchen. The practical version: top up MP before you engage, carry whatever battle items you already have, and pick up the Kitchen’s own drops rather than treating the room as an empty corridor.
Step 04
Return to Farmer Hans
Once the Denizen is down, go back to Farmer Hans at the Farmhouse and finish the quest. The objective is recorded as defeating the enemy and reporting back, so there is no separate quest item to carry to him.
Defeating the Denizen is not the last step. The quest closes out when you speak to Hans, and that is also what writes the shop unlocks.
- Where
- Farmhouse
- Return to
- Farmer Hans
- Bring
- Nothing extra — the objective is the fight
- Why
- The completion conversation is what unlocks the shops
While You’re in the Kitchen
There is a genuinely useful pickup in this room that has nothing to do with the fight. Grab it on the same trip.
Its recorded description is “Opens one of the Sewer gates. The Gatekeeper is looking for this.” It is a pickup inside the Mall Kitchen, so it is on your route anyway. If you are working on The Gatekeeper, collect it now rather than making a second trip.
The Kitchen also has a recorded mini-boss loot table, so the room is worth clearing properly rather than running straight to the objective.
Stuck on the Fight or the Turn-In?
Work through these in order. They are the failure points this quest type can produce.
›I’m in the kitchen but the objective isn’t updating
›Can I fight the Denizen before I start the quest?
›I beat it but the quest won’t close
›Does the boss drop something I have to hand in?
›Does the boss respawn, or can I re-fight it?
What Does A Fast Food Fiend Unlock?
Same rule as the previous farming quest: this does not hand you seeds or recipes. It changes what two shops can sell you.
Main unlock
Corn Seed enters the Farming Shop
Completing A Fast Food Fiend adds Corn Seed to the Farming Shop at the Farmhouse. It becomes something you can buy — it is not put into your inventory by Hans.
Corn Seed details →| Shop | What appears | Cost | How you get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Farming Shop | Corn Seed | 30 gold | Buy it — added to the shop’s stock |
| Recipe Shop | Recipe: Cornbread | 100 gold | Buy the recipe item |
| Recipe Shop | Recipe: Mana Muffin | 150 gold | Buy the recipe item |
| Recipe Shop | Recipe: Harvest Stew | 200 gold | Buy the recipe item |
| Recipe Shop | Recipe: Special Burger | 300 gold | Buy the recipe item |
The four recipes are recorded as recipe items in the Recipe Shop — you purchase them, you do not learn them automatically when the quest ends. Each one is a separate purchase, so you can buy the ones you want first.
Corn Seed, and What It Grows
This is the crop the quest was pointing you at, so here is exactly what you bought.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Seller | Farming Shop, Farmhouse |
| Availability | Added to the shop’s stock by completing A Fast Food Fiend |
| Buy price | 30 gold |
| Growth time | 8 days |
| Season | Summer and Fall |
| Yield | 2–4 Corn per planting |
| Repeatable | Yes — replant from the seed you buy |
The season field is the one worth reading twice. Corn is a Summer and Fall crop, so if you finish this quest during another season you can buy the seed but you will be waiting for the right season to plant it.
What Corn Unlocks Next
Corn is not a finished item — it is the start of a small processing chain that runs into the recipes this quest also opened.
A Fast Food Fiend
Corn Seed
Corn
Cornmeal
Cornbread
Mana Muffin
| Step | Input | Station | Output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grow | Corn Seed | Farm crop plots | Corn ×2–4 |
| Process | Corn | Grinder or Windmill | Cornmeal |
| Cook | Cornmeal | Home cooking station | Cornbread |
| Cook | Cornbread and other ingredients | Home cooking station | Mana Muffin |
The four recipe items this quest unlocks are all cooked at a cooking station once you have bought the recipe. So the order of operations after the quest is: buy the recipes you want, buy Corn Seed, plant it in Summer or Fall, then process the Corn through a Grinder into Cornmeal.
| Recipe item | Price | What it produces | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Recipe: Cornbread | 100 gold | Cornbread | Restores HP by 50. |
| Recipe: Mana Muffin | 150 gold | Mana Muffin | Restores MP by 30. |
| Recipe: Harvest Stew | 200 gold | Harvest Stew | Restores HP by 100 and MP by 10. |
| Recipe: Special Burger | 300 gold | Special Burger | Restores HP by 35 and applies Brutalism for 4 battle turns. |
Where Corn and Mana Muffin Are Needed Later
This is the part most guides leave out: one of these recipes is a quest requirement, not just food.
Quest dependency
Mana Muffin is wanted by Artwork for Abigail
The quest Artwork for Abigail requires you to be holding a Mana Muffin, and its recipe is one of the four items this quest opens. In other words, A Fast Food Fiend is an indirect prerequisite for that later quest: no Corn progression, no Mana Muffin, no hand-in.
Mana Muffin details →That is why the four recipe items here are worth buying rather than skipping. Cooking is not only for healing in this chain — at least one of these outputs is a quest item later on.
Corn Seed or Recipes Still Not Showing?
If you finished the fight but the shops look unchanged, the cause is almost always one specific thing.
›Corn Seed isn’t in the Farming Shop
›The four recipes aren’t in the Recipe Shop
›They appeared but I can’t afford all of them
›I bought Corn Seed but I can’t plant it
›Do the shops refresh on a new day, or do I have to leave and re-enter?
What Comes After A Fast Food Fiend?
This one has a real answer, and it is not another quest.
A Fast Food Fiend is the last confirmed quest in Farmer Hans’s farming chain. Nothing in the progression data requires it as a prerequisite, so there is no next farming quest waiting behind it — and we are not going to invent one.
What you have instead is the Corn progression you just opened: plant Corn in Summer or Fall, process it into Cornmeal, and cook the four recipes. From there, the natural next stops are the other progression branches rather than more Hans tasks.
