How to find both shrines and unlock the Catacombs

This route is based on the previously confirmed secret progression and is being checked against the full release.

To unlock the Catacombs, start By the Gods by talking to Pete in the Laundry Room. Investigate two God Shrines — one in the Mall and one in the Sewers — then return to Pete. Completing the quest reveals the hidden stairs in the Laundry Room that lead into the Catacombs.

    Talk to Pete in the Laundry Room

    Go to the Laundry Room and speak with Pete to start By the Gods.

    This quest is the legitimate hidden route into the Catacombs. You do not need a password, a cheat code or a later-area route to enter the secret dungeon.

    Do I need another quest first?

    No separate prerequisite is currently identified for this route. If Pete offers By the Gods, you can work on it independently of Farmer Hans, Molly and the Ranch progression.

  2. Step 02

    Investigate the God Shrine in the Mall

    Your first goal is simply to investigate one of the two God Shrines required by the quest. One of them is located in the Mall.

    Search the Mall for the God Shrine and interact with it so it counts toward the By the Gods objective.

  3. Step 03

    Investigate the God Shrine in the Sewers

    The second required shrine is in the Sewers. Find it and interact with it to bring the quest total to 2 / 2.

    You do not need to uncover the deeper Sewers or any later-area route for this objective — only the God Shrine this quest asks for.

  4. Step 04

    Return to Pete

    Once the quest shows 2 shrines investigated, return to Pete in the Laundry Room and speak with him again.

    Finding both shrines is not the final step.

  5. Step 05

    Use the Hidden Stairs to Enter the Catacombs

    Completing By the Gods reveals the hidden stairs in the Laundry Room. Take those stairs to reach Catacombs 1F.

    This is the normal secret entrance used by the current progression route.

What Should I Do First in the Catacombs?

Once inside, your first useful goal is to build up your supply of Small Hammers so you can open the sealed stone-door routes.

Stuck on By the Gods?

The usual reasons this quest will not advance or the Catacombs will not open.

›Pete isn’t where I expected
Go to the Laundry Room and look for Pete there.
›My quest says 1 / 2 shrines
You are still missing either the Mall shrine or the Sewers shrine. Check which area you have already investigated.
›I found a shrine but the quest didn’t finish
By the Gods requires two shrines. Finding one only moves the objective to 1 / 2.
›I found both shrines but nothing happened
Return to Pete in the Laundry Room. The quest has a final return-to-giver step before the Catacombs route opens.
›The hidden stairs aren’t visible
First confirm that By the Gods is fully completed after returning to Pete. The hidden Laundry Room stairs are the quest’s completion unlock.
›Do I need a password to enter the Catacombs?
No. The normal secret route is to complete By the Gods and use the hidden stairs revealed in the Laundry Room.
