Why a 4 day crop is not ready on day 4
The game’s own crop text settles how the count is read. "Lesser Rune of Growth" is recorded as breaking to add +1 Crop Growth, with the clarification that crops "grow 1 additional time at night". So the four recorded days are four nightly growth ticks rather than four slots on the planting day: plant on Day 1 and the ticks land on the nights of Day 1, 2, 3 and 4, which is why the crop is ready on Day 5. Growth is tied to the night rather than to a button — the data does not record whether the day turns over at midnight on its own or only when you sleep in a bed, so nothing here asks you to sleep to move a crop along.

Why the Grinder and not a Furnace
