Quick Answer

Where to find Copper Ore

The earliest recorded Copper Ore comes from copper node in the Farm Mine — Floor 1. You mine it with the Rusty Pickaxe, so nothing better is needed for this one. Helping Molly needs Copper Ore ×1, so mine a little more than that if you plan to craft.

Later, Copper Ore can also be bought from the Forge Shop in the Workshop (up to 15 in stock), but only after this unlock: Complete Helping Molly. The deeper mine floors and the secret Catacombs route are listed below.

How to find the mine

The Farm Mine is the early mine on the farm side of the map — the one players often call the beginner mine, and the one the first task sends you to. Molly stands on the Farm Path nearby, so head toward the farm rather than into town; the Mall side of the map is a different, later mine. This page can point you at the area but not at a map pin, because the recorded location is a named place rather than a marked spot.

What does Copper Ore look like?

More than one node type spawns in the same mine, so the node is what tells you whether you are swinging at the right rock.

Copper comes from a copper node, and the mine holds several node types side by side: a plain rock node, a coal node, an iron node and others. Which node you swing at decides the drop, so target the copper-coloured deposit and leave the plain rock alone — a rock node hands you Stone, and a node that dropped Stone was a rock node, not a copper one that failed.

Molly hands this out on the Farm Path, and it is the pickaxe the Copper Ore task expects you to bring to the Farm Mine.

Not needed for Farm Mine copper. It is the next mining tier up, so it only becomes worth buying when you move on to the higher-tier ores deeper in the mines.

How to mine Copper Ore

Break the node, pick the drop up, and let the mine reset when you need more.

  1. Step 1 — Carry a pickaxe

Rusty Pickaxe is the pickaxe this ore's own task hands out, so it covers the early mine.

  2. Step 2 — Break the copper node

Go to Farm Mine — Floor 1 and swing at the copper node. The drop is decided by which node you break, so the node comparison above is what tells a copper node from plain rock.

  3. Step 3 — Pick up what drops

Each copper node drops 1 every time — the drop is fixed even though the node's position is rolled fresh. Bag it before you leave the floor.

Does Copper Ore respawn?

Cleared resource nodes do come back, but not every night. Mine layouts and their nodes regenerate together when a reset runs: the reset is armed at midnight on Mondays and fires on a later rest, and a Harvest Moon or a Soul Moon forces one immediately. Simply leaving and re-entering the mine does not respawn anything, and a reset can also change which nodes the layout contains, so a copper node is not in the same spot every time.

The early mine is the one the Rusty Pickaxe is handed out for. The extracted data does not record a separate pickaxe tier for each deeper floor, so the table says so rather than guessing one.

Should you mine it or buy it?

For Helping Molly, mine it. The task hands you the pickaxe, so buying Copper Ore is not part of the normal route. If you need a few quickly after the unlock, the Forge Shop is faster than a mine trip. For a stack of Copper Bar, mining is the route that does not depend on stock.

Can you get it before the quest?

The Farm Mine is not gated — the ore is recorded with no unlock and no prerequisite, so you can mine it before or after accepting Helping Molly. The task is recorded as bringing Molly 1 Copper Ore rather than as mining it during the task, so ore you already mined is not wasted. The one thing that does come from the task is the tool: the Rusty Pickaxe is handed to you on the Farm Path when you accept, so accept it first if you have no pickaxe yet.

Copper Ore vs Copper Bar

The pair players mix up most often, in whichever direction they arrive.

Copper OreCopper Bar
Raw material, mined from a copper nodeProcessed material, made in a Furnace
Wanted by quests that ask for the raw materialWanted by crafting recipes that ask for the processed item
Cannot substitute for Copper Bar in a recipeCannot substitute for Copper Ore at a hand-in

Do not convert your only ore. Helping Molly asks for Copper Ore ×1, so mine or buy a second Copper Ore before smelting the one you are planning to hand in.

How to turn Copper Ore into Copper Bars

The short version — the processed item's own page carries the full recipe.

1 Copper Ore goes into a Furnace and comes back as 2 Copper Bars. That is the whole recipe — no second ingredient is recorded, and no fuel or timer is either.

Full Copper Bar guide →

What is Copper Ore used for?

Quest use first, then the conversion, then the recipes that consume it directly. This is what makes it worth keeping rather than selling.

Quest use

Helping Molly

The task asks for Copper Ore ×1. It wants the raw ore, not a Copper Bar, and the guide covers the hand-in.

Processing

1 Copper Ore 2 Copper Bars in a Furnace

The first thing most players do with the ore, and the reason to mine a stack rather than one node.

Crafting recipes

2 recorded recipes take Copper Ore directly. Ingredient counts per recipe are not in the game data, so only the recipes are listed.

How much should you keep?

Driven by the quest requirement and the recorded uses, not by a rule of thumb.

Keep or sell?

Keep at least 1 Copper Ore for Helping Molly before you smelt anything, and keep a second one if you have not built a Furnace yet — a Furnace is crafted at the Workbench from Stone and Copper Ore, so smelting your only ore leaves you unable to make the station. After that, ore is the input for Copper Bars and for a second Workbench recipe, so extras are worth keeping rather than selling off. The item database records a single price of 45 and does not store a separate sell value, so a resale figure would be a guess.

Why can’t I mine Copper Ore?

The wrong node, a missing pickaxe and an unreachable mine are different problems. Pick the one that matches you.

What’s stopping you?

You are almost certainly breaking the wrong node. Farm Mine — Floor 1 spawns more than one kind, and a rock node gives Stone rather than Copper Ore.

Look for the copper node rather than the rock node, which gives Stone.

What the data does not record

Listed so the gaps are visible instead of being filled with a guess.

  • The pickaxe tier each individual mine floor asks for
  • Whether a Mining stat or a potion changes how much a node drops
  • A restock rule for the Forge Shop stock
  • A fuel cost or a processing timer for the Furnace
  • What happens when the ore drops with a full inventory
